Motivation is defined as a state arising in processes that are internal and external to the individual where the person perceives that it is appropriate to pursue a certain course of action directed at achieving a specified outcome and the person involved pursues that outcome with vigor and persistence (Robinson, 208).

The employees have their own needs hence the plan to interview them is seen as viable to be in a position to get their views and ideas about what they think should be incorporated in their work to motivate them. The HR department will be in a position to use the responses from the interviews to create a master plan for the following:

  • all training
  • assignments
  • rules and regulations that ought to be implemented to improve morale as well as to enhance training.

The plan to rebrand the HR department will be implemented over some time and this will be done in stages. The HR manager will be responsible for implementing that action plan and he will get some input from the other members from the same department. All the responses from the interviewees will be taken into consideration to be in a position to come up with a sound policy document that can improve the performance of the HR department as well as improve the morale of the workers. The employees have to be treated as valuable assets to the company and this is the reason why we have to get their views.

Task Two

The following is a list of interview questions that are going to be asked, of employees.

  1. Do you like the leadership style of your managers?
  2. What do you think should be done to improve your managers’ leadership style?
  3. What are some of the factors that cause low employee morale?
  4. Do you have knowledge about the job you do?
  5. What do you think must be done to improve your knowledge and skills about the job?
  6. Do you think training will help to improve your performance?
  7. What kind of motivation do you need to improve your performance?
  8. Are you comfortable working in teams?
  9. Are you treated fairly by your managers?
  10. How many hours are you comfortable to work per shift?
  11. Do you like the idea of working overtime?
  12. What qualifications do you think should be considered for your job post?
  13. Do you think your department is overstaffed or understaffed?
  14. What changes do you expect to be implemented in your department to improve its performance?
  15. Are you involved in the decision-making process in your department?

Task Three

The interview questions are designed in such a way that they are short and they enable the interviewee to give short and succinct answers. Therefore, it is anticipated that an interview with one employee will take approximately 15 minutes. These interviews are expected to be conducted in five working days to enable the department to perform other pertinent tasks in its operations. We anticipate that at least two hours per day from Monday to Friday (8 am to 10 am) will be devoted to these interviews and they will be conducted in the boardroom.

After conducting the interviews with all the employees, the HR manager will need at least three days to go through the responses from the interviews to be in a better position to write a meaningful report that would be presented to senior management for approval. This report is expected to be completed on the last business day of the week after the completion of conducting the interviews. A meeting of senior management will be called to make some deliberations on the report. The changes will then be made after making an agreement with all the stakeholders involved.
